Second 0 Day

Monday, September 21, was a short day for Lyle.  He arrived at the Greymore Spiritual Center around 1:30 in the afternoon.  He set up his tent under a shelter and was the only hiker that set up on this particular spot.  There were several other hikers that set up under a smaller shelter across the area.  Lyle checked out the local shops and found a deli that serves pretty good food.  What a treat!  We talked about the bad weather heading toward NY...the weather maps predict very bad storms.

Tuesday, September 22.  The bad weather moved in as he gets settled for the night. He ended up moving his tent under the shelter to move away from some leaks. First thing in the morning I check out the weather maps and call Lyle.  The storm woke him up shortly before I called.  It looks like a really bad day to be on the trail so Lyle decides to stay put at the spiritual center.  He is protected by a shelter, has access to a nice bath house and an easy walk to food.  He toured the "campus" and took pictures of the newer construction.  He also toured the gift shop and of course went back to the deli for lunch--so much better than what's in the backpack!  The storms and high wind hit mid-afternoon.  There were periods of high winds with no rain and then rain that came down sideways.  The weather reports this afternoon are all about the trees and power lines down in New York.  Lyle may have a difficult hike beginning on Wednesday.  At least he is safe and sound under a shelter and not clinging to a mountain or worried about a tree coming down on his tent somewhere on the trail.
